Benidorm Beaches

A five-kilometre coastline marked by vast sands and secluded coves where one can enjoy a refreshing swim, as well as engage in water sports, like scuba diving, water skiing, windsurfing and sailing, etc.

Poniente Playa. Poniente Beach. Benidorm
Promenade with lots of palm trees that make the environment truly beautiful. Great sand. The rocks beside the port are the best place for fishing. The Poniente Playa resort begins at the harbour in the Old Town and stretches over 2kms toward La Cala Finestrat. The concentration of hotels and apartments are far less here and the beach offers a less crowded space even in high season. If you are looking for a beach holiday away from the "Brits abroad", with early nights and early mornings then this is the place to stay, especially for those who enjoy exercise. Has recently had extensive work on a new promenade.

For a more lively holiday you should consider the Levante Playa area of Benidorm.

Levante Playa. Levante Beach Benidorm
Located to the north of the harbour, Levante beach is one of the most beautiful in the city. Because of its urban location, it provides easy access to many services and to two kilometres of fine, golden sands. These emblematic sands are bordered by a busy promenade, filled with terraces and restaurants that are very lively at night. This is the tourist center of Benidorm and is where you will find the largest concentration of hotels and self catering apartment accommodation favoured as the most popular Summer holiday destination. You will find 60% of all bars, restaurants and entertainment venues here offering a huge range of services both independent and in hotels. Almost all businesses here cater for English speaking visitors and many British people own bars.

The Levante is made up of a very mixed age range and caters well for every type of holiday from stag and hen groups looking to dance all night to those wishing for a quieter relaxed beach break. It should be noted however that this side of town is where the late night venues tend to be located. It is very busy during July and August when the beaches can be top to toe with sun seekers and bars open well after 2am with a happy and buoyant crowd. If you are wishing to have early nights and relax on the beach straight after breakfast then you may wish to book a hotel or apartment in the Poniente.

In the winter months the area is favoured by many retired visitors looking for long stay hotels on the Levante.

Benidorm Beach FAcilities. Safety and Disabled Visitor Facilities

The beaches are watched over by qualified life savers, who also have access to medical teams at first aid points. There are also sea patrols which are backed up by local police who patrol by sea and on quad bikes along the beach to ensure your safety at all times whilst enjoying the best beaches in Europe.

For those with a disability there are NEW access points on the Poniente which now has a fantastic decking the entire length at sea level accessed by new slopes. Wheelchair users can easily go to the shoreline where you can enjoy a swim using amphibious chairs assisted by trained staff. There are also disabled toilets on the Levante and Poniente at Park Elche.

WARNING flags that indicate sea safety information.

A green flag indicates safe swimming
A yellow flag indicates care is needed
A red flag indicates swimming is unsafe due to rough sea (Do Not Enter Sea)
A white flag indicates Jellyfish (July August only)

NOTE The yellow markers you see indicated the maximum distance life savers are able to swim out to rescue you. Boats are also not allowed past these points. You should never swim out to sea further than these markers.

There are also beach libraries where you can enjoy local and international newspapers free of charge under covered quiet areas as well as free to use outdoor gym facilities in Park Elche (Poniente / Harbour) and well marked meeting points.

There is a wealth of watersport opportunities during the summer months: wind surfing, water ski-ing; jet ski-ing; paragliding; scuba diving and boat rides...

There is also a professional standard cable-waterski station, which hosts international tournaments!

Cable Ski Benidorm
Professional Cableski and Watersports Centre on the Levante beach.

This fantastic invention makes learning to waterski a doddle! There is no need for a boat and they say you can be up and skiing within an hour. Prices start from 20 euros for a course.
